Save Nepal Heritage

Infinite Possibilities

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”

Norman Vincent Peale

Nepal’s history doesn’t begin with Prithivi Narayan Shah’s creation of the nation, but with the Indigenous Peoples who lived in the hills and plains for centuries before. Their diverse cultures, traditions, and histories contribute to the rich tapestry and national treasures of the nation. While many of us are familiar with major heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, numerous lesser-known sites, such as Mukkulumbu—the sacred site of the Limbu people—are endangered and threatened by economic development. This underscores the importance of preserving and respecting the cultural heritage of all people.

The goal of the “Save Nepal Heritage” website is to honor all the people of Nepal by protecting and safeguarding their heritage sites before they are lost forever. These cultural sites represent the foundations of Nepalese society and their contributions to global human development. They should serve as engines for economic development, with local communities leading the management of economic activities in alignment with their values and priorities.
